ROLE OVERVIEW

As Construction Operations Manager – Crushing & Earthworks you coordinate our on-site crushing and bulk earthworks operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Crushing & Earthworks Manager is responsible for the following:

- Ensure safe and efficient operations of a small team of operators, laborers and gravel trucks, coordinating the delivery and removal of materiel

- Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate construction projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget

- Requisition or order materials, equipment and supplies

- Plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones and monitor progress against established schedules

- Develop and implement quality control programsLead construction site ensuring workers follow construction plans efficiently and safely

- Develop daily reports accurately and in a timely manner

- Take direction from leadership on site and delegate accordingly

- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, budget, and requirements, and comply with all regulatory, environmental and health and safety requirements

- Represent company on matters such as business services

- Develop and maintain effective relationships with clients, resolve issues, managing client expectations, and ensuring client satisfaction

- Prepare progress reports and issue progress schedules to clients

- Demonstrate leadership in health, safety, and environmental protection

- Supervise the activities of subcontractors and subordinate staff

- Demonstrate effective communication and provide strong leadership to construction team members, capitalizing on individual and group strengths to ensure project targets are achieved

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

The Crushing & Earthworks Manager will demonstrate the following abilities in their daily work:

- Knowledge of construction standards and codes

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- A solid understanding of construction management procedures

- Problem solving skills

- Time management skills

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing various duties, while meeting scheduled deadlines.

- Adept computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office and HCSS Heavy Job Manager

- Capable of initiating and adapting to change

- Proactive risk management

- Customer service skills including the ability to communicate effectively with the public

- Interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively with other Civil Construction and Coastal Mountain Excavations employees

QUALIFICATIONS

- Valid Class 5 BC Drivers’ Licence

- Must have experience with the coordination and operation of the following machinery: excavator, front end loader, water truck and dust suppression systems

- Ability to operate the listed heavy equipment in a safe and productive manner

- Must have experience with mobile crushing plant (Metso Lokotrack preferred or similar jaw crusher)

- Heavy civil construction experience and adaptability in a demanding environment

- Complete knowledge of CME operations and representative of CME core values

- Secondary school (preferred)

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

- $33.00-$46.00 per hour, depending on experience and education

- Vacation pay (calculated at 4% of total wages earned)

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

- Generally, 7:30am – 4:00pm, Monday – Friday

- Overtime required during busy construction periods

- Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada
