We currently have an opening for a Finance Co-op Student for the May 2025 work term, come grow with us

Reporting to the Manager of Corporate Finance, the Finance Co-op Student position plays a key role in supporting the financial operations and the implementation of a new financial consolidation system. The successful applicant will assist in financial reporting, accounting processes, and project tasks, including the setup of a new financial consolidation platform. The role will require a high level of attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across various teams.

Key Responsibilities Include:

- Assist with preparation of accurate and timely monthly account reconciliations and analysis.
- Calculate and prepare a number of month-end journal entries.
- Review Canadian expenses and Balance Sheet for reasonability and collect explanations of anomalies or correcting errors.
- Maintain intercompany in transit accrual spreadsheet and record monthly accrual.
- Prepare schedules and information required for income tax return purposes.

Project – Consolidation System:

- Assist with testing of a new financial consolidation system including matching results to the current system.
- Create training material, documentation, and user guides for ongoing reference.
- Assist in generating financial reports from the system, helping to review them for accuracy.
- Help set up financial data dashboards and analyze data trends within the new system, providing support for management reporting.
- Assist in preparing financial analysis or variance reports.

Accounts Payable Processing:

- Prepares and processes purchase orders, invoices, and invoice journals timely and accurately.
- Ensures purchase orders, receiving, and invoices are matched and the input is accurate, and expense accounting is correct.
- Ensures that proper approvals are obtained.
- Ensures filing is accurate and up-to-date.

Do you qualify? We are seeking:

- Currently enrolled in university or college accounting program with a preference for a Bachelor's Degree.
- Preference for candidates seeking CPA designation.
- Strong analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
- Working knowledge of MS Office, specifically Excel.
- Superior organizational, prioritization, and multi-tasking skills.
- Must have the ability to manage conflicting priorities.
- Ability to work in both a team environment and independently.
- Ability to work under and to meet deadlines consistently.
- Detail-oriented and a high level of initiative.
