Grade (for internal applicants only): 9

Program Overview:

When you join S&P Global Ratings, you become part of a team that produces high‑quality fundamental research based on established criteria. Our Credit Graduate Program is a two‑year training and development opportunity. During the first year analysts acquire skills and knowledge from a home practice; in the second year they gain exposure to other practices through classroom training, projects, and short‑term secondments. All analysts combine practical work experience with the completion of a relevant qualification, such as the CFA.

The Practice:

Americas Public Finance focuses on determining the ratings of municipalities, including states, local governments, higher education institutions, infrastructure, and healthcare. The practice spans the U.S. with offices in Boston, New York, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, and San Francisco. Analysts work across teams, attend municipal forums, and engage in data entry and analysis, deal prep, management meetings, committee presentations, thought‑leadership writing, and annual projects such as median reports.

Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct credit and recovery analysis for services provided to corporate, institutional, and governmental clients.

- Evaluate the creditworthiness of organizations, focusing on their ability to meet financial obligations for traditional credit products and structured banking transactions.

- Provide timely and precise quarterly financial statistical and data analysis.

- Assist in reporting, research, and presentation development, leveraging analytical skills to support research and analysis.

- Collaborate with the team on execution improvements and ad‑hoc writing projects.

What We’re Looking For:

Required Qualifications and Experience:

- Completion of a minimum undergraduate degree by August 2026, with a strong academic record.

- All majors welcome, including Accounting, Business Administration, Engineering, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Public Policy, Quantitative Analysis, Data and Statistics.

- Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).

- Intellectual curiosity and a keen interest in learning and applying new knowledge in credit analysis.

- Ability to conduct independent analysis and research, showing initiative and resourcefulness.

- Strong relationship‑building skills, emphasizing collaboration and effective communication with team members.

- Strong storytelling skills, able to turn complex data insights into engaging narratives for stakeholders.

- Demonstrated problem‑solving, time‑management, attention to detail, and organizational abilities.

- Proactive mindset and adaptability, essential for thriving in a dynamic environment influenced by AI and technology.

- Utilize AI technologies to analyze large datasets and derive actionable insights.

Additional Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

- Background in Public Policy or related fields.

Right to Work Requirements:

This role is limited to persons with an indefinite right to work in the United States.

All employees are required to work from the office a minimum of two days per week.
