The Opportunity

Leavitt Machinery is looking for a Technician Apprentice (Heavy Equipment) to join our team in Edmonton, Alberta. As the Technician Apprentice you will be responsible for repairing and maintaining heavy equipment for external and internal customers.

This is a unionized position under the Alberta Collective Agreement.

Key Responsibilities

As a Technician Apprentice your key responsibilities will include:

- Performing maintenance tasks on heavy-duty equipment, such as oil changes, tire pressure checks, fluid level inspections, and basic lubrication
- Examining engines, transmissions, brakes, hydraulic systems, and electrical components for signs of damage
- Using diagnostic tools to identify, analyze and diagnose mechanical issues
- Replacing worn or damaged parts as needed, such as filters, belts, hoses, and gaskets
- Adhering to safety protocols at all times, and maintaining a clean work area

Required Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, knowledge, and competencies:

- 1 year of prior experience working as a Technician Apprentice with a focus on heavy equipment is required
- Completion of first year of studies in a heavy equipment technician apprenticeship program is required
- High school diploma
- Valid driver's license required
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Strong work ethic and a positive attitude
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with external customers and internal stakeholders
