Senior Communication & Graphic Design specialist

Position Summary
The Senior Communications and Graphic Design Specialist will play a key role in executing HPSA’s communications strategy and visual assets, blending strong writing skills and graphic design expertise. The role will focus on visual storytelling, event promotion, digital content and management, and content creation. The successful candidate will provide leadership on communications & Marketing projects, and ensure all communications align with HPSA’s brand and strategic objectives.
Duties & Key Responsibilities
Design & Creative Content
- Design and produce high-quality visual content for print and digital platforms, including brochures, reports, infographics, social media posts, newsletters, presentations, and campaign materials.
- Develop and refine visual identities for major campaigns, ensuring alignment HPSA brand guidelines and accessibility standards.
- Create event materials such as banners, flyers, signage, and digital assets for conferences, webinars, and community outreach initiatives.
- Handle advanced photo editing, illustration, and multimedia production to elevate overall content quality.
- Ensure all visual content is optimized and adapted for use across multiple platforms (print, web, social media, etc.).
Communications & Digital Strategy
- Contribute to the development and implementation of HPSA’s communications strategy to increase awareness of initiatives, programs, and events.
- Take a primary role in content creation for social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) to engage stakeholders and strengthen HPSA’s online presence. Experience with paid digital ads is an asset.
- Draft press releases, newsletters, blog posts, internal communications, and other written materials aligned with organizational goals.
- Work closely with the team to produce annual reports, fact sheets, and other informational resources for stakeholders and the public.
- Oversee paid social media campaigns and optimize content for reach, performance, and engagement.
Web & Digital Management
- Maintain and update HPSA websites using WordPress, ensuring content is accurate, engaging, and accessible.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to enhance website functionality and user experience.
Other Responsibilities
- Contributes to the planning, promotion, and execution of events, webinars, and community programs
- Stay current trends in communications, graphic design, health product stewardship, and sustainability
- Support administrative communications tasks, such as managing content calendars, media tracking, and reporting.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in communications, marketing, or related fields, with a strong portfolio in graphic design.
- Advanced proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, and other design tools.
- Strong experience with WordPress and website content management.
- Knowledge of social media strategy paid campaigns, and analytics.
- Experience in event planning, media relations, and stakeholder engagement.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment.
Additional Competences/Skills
- Bilingual proficiency in English and French.
- Advanced Excel skills for report analysis and proficiency in advanced CRM platforms.
- Problem-solving and critical thinking skills with a focus on customer needs.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to demonstrate integrity, vision, and enthusiasm in leading initiatives and setting high standards.
This position requires one day attendance per week to the North york, ON office
