Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Director of Estimating to lead and enhance the estimating function at Olympic International Sales. In this senior role, you will be responsible for managing and mentoring the estimating team, overseeing the strategic direction of estimation projects, and ensuring the implementation of efficient processes and accurate estimates. The Director will play a key role in developing technical training, driving system improvements, and staying ahead of HVAC industry trends to deliver innovative solutions. Collaborating with senior leadership, you will provide expertise, mentor team members, and contribute to strategic planning to support the company's growth and success.

Responsibilities:

I. Leadership and Team Management:

- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of estimators/takeoff specialists.
- Provide training, performance reviews, and set development goals.
- Guide team members to ensure accuracy and efficiency in the estimating process.
- Foster a collaborative and results-driven environment to meet project deadlines and goals.
- Be a hands-on leader for managing estimating team's accountabilities including:

– Review of the daily job calendar; ensure take-off and other tasks are done accurately and in a timely manner.

– Ensure coordination with the sales team to close estimating jobs.

– Conduct risk assessment and coordinate with internal stakeholders to mitigate risks related to estimation and projects (alert for jobs that may require a policy 19 meeting).

– Participate in weekly sales and project management meetings to align with sales strategies, objectives, and delivery requirements.

– Perform cross-functional coordination between sales, project management, service, and parts as required.

II. Technical Leadership and Training

- Develop and deliver technical training sessions on HVAC equipment and systems.
- Provide technical support to the estimating team, PMs, and Sales teams.
- Attend industry events and network with industry members.
- Attend manufacturer training and stay up to date with new products and solutions.
- Collaborating with the Chief Innovation Officer (CIO) to research new product introduction.
- Work with the senior leadership team, providing estimating and technical expertise and support.
- Mentor associates on value-engineering opportunities to reduce project costs while maintaining quality and compliance.

III. System and Process Improvement:

- Continuously improving the estimating processes, tools, and technologies.
- Implement standardized procedures for takeoff, estimating, and bid preparation to streamline operations and improve accuracy.
- Stay updated with HVAC industry trends, pricing, and technological advancements to ensure competitive and up-to-date solutions.

IV. Strategic Management

- Prepare and present reports on estimating activities, project performance, and other information for senior management.
- Participate in and contribute to the annual strategic planning process.
- Conduct capacity analysis and align resources and practices with future growth objectives.

Education, Licenses and/or Certification, Experience Required:

- University degree or diploma in mechanical systems, mechanical engineering or similar disciplines.
- 10+ years of experience in HVAC industry.
- Exceptional leadership, teamwork, managerial and communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and aptitude.
- Hands-on leadership with a strategic mindset.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability and interest in developing people.

Salary: $150,000 – $180,000 per year
