About the Role
The Company is seeking an Associate Vice President, Executive Underwriter or Senior Underwriter to join their Western Region team. The successful candidate will be responsible for underwriting and profitably growing a portfolio of commercial property business, with a focus on complex mid-market and large risks, including those exposed to catastrophic events. This role involves managing a diverse range of risks, applying strong underwriting discipline, and maintaining strong broker relationships. The ideal candidate will have a background in underwriting commercial P&C insurance, particularly in property and CAT-exposed risks, and will be expected to contribute to market development, regional strategy, and the coaching and mentoring of team members. Applicants for the Associate Vice President, Executive Underwriter or Senior Underwriter position at the company should have a minimum of 5 years' experience in underwriting commercial P&C insurance, with a strong emphasis on property and CAT-exposed risks. A deep understanding of earthquake modeling, flood exposure, and CAT aggregation in Western Canada is essential. The role requires a candidate with proven experience in building and managing relationships with major brokers, strong analytical and decision-making skills, and the ability to operate effectively in a competitive market. Post-secondary education and insurance designations are considered assets, and experience in mentoring or leading others is preferred.
