For more information on the First Nation School Board, please visit Based in Whitehorse, the Director of Finance and Operations is a key senior leader within the First Nation School Board, responsible for ensuring strong financial stewardship and operational systems that reflect and uphold Yukon First Nations values. Reporting to the Executive Director, this role oversees budgeting, financial policy and reporting, funding agreements, audit readiness, and organizational risk management. The Director also leads core operational functions including facilities, procurement, transportation, technology, and staff pay and benefits, while supporting the strategic direction of the Board. This role works closely with school administrators, senior leadership, trustees, government partners, and Yukon First Nations to ensure that financial and operational decisions are transparent, values-based, and support strong learning environments across the Territory. What You Bring Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or equivalent7+ years of progressive leadership experience in financial management, with responsibility for organizational-level budgeting, reporting, and strategic planning, ideally in the public sector, non-profit, Indigenous governance, or education systemProven experience leading finance and operations teams, building capacity, and mentoring staff in financial systems, processes, and literacyDemonstrated success in developing and implementing financial policies, multi-year budgets, funding agreements, and audit-ready financial controlsStrong knowledge of financial systems, reporting platforms, and data-driven decision-making tools, with the ability to evaluate and improve operational processesAbility to translate complex financial information into clear, accessible language for senior leadership, trustees, governments, and communities An equivalent combination of education and directly related experience will be considered.
