The specialist will work closely with the Healthcare Billing and Operation Teams to ensure patient profile, demographics and authorizations are obtained, maintained, and entered in our system with the highest quality in a timely manner.

Position Responsibilities

- Verify benefits and coverage for all new referrals with private insurance that is sent to HCP of Texas.
- Obtain initial authorization for all private insurance patients for Starts of Care.
- Manage the number of visits authorized and maintain additional authorizations for all patients as clinicians communicate a continued need for service.
- Correspond with both the therapy contract companies and HCP clinicians regarding insurance
- Send clinical requests to Med Records for immediate completion
- Communicate with Intake/scheduling when an SOC or ROC can be scheduled with a clinician.
- Send needed clinical documentation to insurance companies
- Coordinate with DON on discharges necessary due to patient running out of insurance benefits.
- Maintain Email Accounts Assist billing with claim issues on any discrepancies.
- Coordinate with coding department for required documentation Document all communication in HCNet.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- Strong computer profieciency
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology
- Experience with Submitting Insurance Authorizations strongly preferred
- Data Entry Experience
- Must be self-motivated
- Must have past customer service experience
- Previous experience working in an office/professional setting.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team
- Ability to multitask and stay organized
- Be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers
- Previous experience working with Home Health authorization or billing is preferred but not required
