The Role

Reporting to VP, Commercial Risk, the Commercial Credit Analyst supports risk management program related to the Commercial Lending portfolio. This position provides commercial credit adjudication support, quality assurance analysis, portfolio monitoring, management and board reporting, and project coordination. The Commercial Credit Analyst will review deals received from the Commercial Lending team, conduct analysis, and make recommendations on whether the deal is within the Credit Union’s risk parameters.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Assist in the end-to-end adjudication process for new credits, annual reviews, and other credit applications in accordance with credit policy and guidelines.

- Review due diligence documents (e.g. appraisals, environmental reports, lease agreements, industry reports etc.), financial spreadsheets, risk rating, financial models and conduct sensitivity analysis.

- Approve annual reviews and amendment requests as per delegated lending authority (DLA).

- Use sound credit judgment to assess, analyze, and present well‑written recommendations for adjudication on new deals, annual reviews, and other credit applications.

- Undertake quality assurance reviews on the commercial credit portfolio, track audit action items, and coordinate with key stakeholders (lenders, funding team, analysts, adjudication team).

- Prepare reports and presentation for Commercial Risk, Management Credit Committee (MC), and Board of Directors as needed.

- Coordinate various initiatives and projects for the Commercial Credit team.

- Research and analyze market segments. Stay current with general economic indicators and monitor industry trends to assess credit risk.

- Maintain a thorough knowledge of the policies and guidelines regarding commercial lending.

- Ensure compliance with internal credit policies, guidelines, procedures, regulatory requirements and cooperative principles.

- Contribute to the ongoing improvements in adjudication practices and credit policy/guideline development.

This position is for an existing vacancy within our team.

What we are looking for

- Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.

- Post‑graduate degree or other related designation (MBA, CFA, FRM, CA etc.) considered an asset.

- 1‑3 years’ work experience in commercial or real‑estate lending, or a related field.

- Must be bondable.

Salary range: $65,000 – $75,000. The compensation offered to the successful applicant for this role will be determined by the candidate’s relevant skills and experience and internal equity. More information about our total rewards package will be available during the hiring process.
