Triple Five is seeking an experienced Tax Specialist to join our head office team. This role involves the preparation, review, and filing of various Canadian tax compliance requirements and coordinating with external consultants to manage U.S. tax filings. The ideal candidate will possess a well-rounded understanding of Canadian tax regulations, strong analytical and organizational skills, and the ability to navigate complex tax matters while supporting the company’s broader strategic and operational goals.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare, review, and file corporate, personal, and trust tax returns (T1s, T2s, T3s, T1134s), ensuring compliance with federal, provincial, and local tax regulations.
- Oversee and liaise with external consultants regarding the preparation of U.S. tax filings and related compliance requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual tax provisions, deferred tax calculations, and effective tax rate analyses to support accurate financial reporting.
- Conduct tax research on complex issues, including cross-border transactions, transfer pricing, and corporate reorganizations, and provide practical, well-documented recommendations to management.
- Support and lead responses to tax audit queries, represent the company during Canadian tax audits, and manage communications with tax authorities.
- Provide input on tax planning initiatives—including business acquisitions, sales of business, succession, and intergenerational transfers—and assist in the implementation of tax strategies.
- Prepare and review Compilation Engagement Reports, account reconciliations, working papers, and schedules, ensuring accuracy and compliance with reporting standards.
- Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, and other business units to ensure tax implications are considered in business decisions and projects.
- Identify and implement process efficiencies to enhance tax-related workflows and methodologies.
- Uphold the highest standards of ethics, confidentiality, and professional integrity in all tax-related matters.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- CPA designation (Chartered Professional Accountant) required.
- 3–5 years of experience in corporate tax roles.
- Completion of or current enrollment in the CPA In-Depth Tax Program.
- Strong background in corporate and personal tax compliance, with experience preparing T1s, T2s, T3s, and T1134s.
- Exposure to tax planning (e.g., business acquisitions, sales, succession, intergenerational transfers) and comfort implementing planning strategies.
- Experience in preparing Compilation Engagement Reports, reconciliations, working papers, and related schedules.
- Strong financial accounting knowledge with the ability to interpret and apply accounting and tax principles.
- Proficiency in tax preparation and research software, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other business applications.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and think both strategically and pragmatically.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- This is a full-time position that is required in office Monday through Friday
- This is a salaried position that is dependent on experience and qualifications.
- Must be able to pass a basic security clearance.
