Job Summary
The Team
The Civil Resolution Tribunal (CRT) gratefully acknowledges that its work spans across the traditional territories of over 200 First Nations and 39 Métis chartered communities in British Columbia. The CRT is an independent, quasi-judicial tribunal that operates under the authority of the Civil Resolution Tribunal Act. The CRT is Canada's first online tribunal and provides end-to-end dispute resolution services in strata property disputes and small claims up to $5,000.
The Role
As a summer student with the Civil Resolution Tribunal (CRT), you will gain practical experience in administrative law by supporting legal research, policy development, and tribunal processes. Your work may involve analyzing legislation, assisting counsel in judicial reviews, and developing plain language resources to improve access to justice. The CRT is committed to equity, diversity, inclusion, and reconciliation with Indigenous peoples.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations – status or non-status, Métis, or Inuit), and
- Be enrolled in a post-secondary law program at the time of applying for this position and will have completed at least the first year of this program by May 2025.
Proviso/willingness statements:
- Be willing to live in BC for the duration of this position.

About this Position:
There is 1 (one) temporary position available from May 2025 to August 2025. This is a summer position for law students who are currently pursuing a Juris Doctor (JD) or Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree. Remote work is allowed, this position can work up to full time from their home in British Columbia subject to an approved telework agreement.
This position does not fulfill articling requirements for being called to the bar of British Columbia. A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required. Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
