Specialist Respiratory Pharmacist

This is an ideal role for a pharmacist wanting to work in a dynamic leading-edge specialty – Respiratory Medicine. The respiratory department is an excellent research renowned tertiary centre and this role would enable you to deepen your clinical knowledge and skills and develop leadership skills in working with a very motivated wider multidisciplinary team. In particular, you will be instrumental in managing patients and delivering transformative care to patients who have interstitial lung disease.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will:
- Become an expert in respiratory pharmacy with a focus on ILD.
- Work in respiratory medicine including COPD, interstitial lung disease and pleural medicine as well as severe asthma.
- Be responsible for delivering ILD patient care, including all aspects of ILD treatment, home care, related documentation and supporting clinics.
- Play a key role in the respiratory pharmacy team and wider multidisciplinary team with initiatives in teaching, service and guideline development.
- Demonstrate trust values and professionalism in all day‑to‑day work and communications.

Person Specification
Technical Skills
- Working knowledge of Office 365 applications
- Experience using electronic prescribing systems
Qualifications
- MPharm in pharmacy or equivalent
- Registered as a pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Certificate in clinical pharmacy or equivalent experience
- Post‑graduate diploma/MSc or equivalent experience
- Experience in respiratory pharmacy
Experience
- Direct patient care
- Working with other healthcare professionals
- Communicating complex information via multiple methods to a variety of recipients
- Quality improvement, service evaluation or audit experience
- Mentoring and training others in a healthcare setting
- Taking the lead in a team or project
- Hospital experience in more than one setting or clinical area
- Appreciation of funding streams for medicine budgets
- Demonstrating measurable outcomes from quality or service improvement
- Preparation of protocols or guidelines
