Position: Security Guard

Site: Yonge Corporate Centre

City: Toronto

Status: Part Time

Hours: 0000-1200 (Friday Night to Saturday Noon & Saturday Night to Sunday Noon)

Pay Rate: $18.73/hr

Averaging Agreement: Overtime is AA (Averaging Agreement after 88 hours)

Mandatory Training: 4 day virtual and in-class training at our Etobicoke office

Job Description: Working assigned shifts, you will be responsible for completing investigations and incident reports. You will be expected to perform constant patrols and interact with tenants and members of the public to provide direction and promote good customer service while providing a security presence. Respond to all emergencies and take the lead role in all incidents involving violent individuals. You will be required to conduct arrests, enforce mall rules, and remove undesirables from the property.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Must be willing and able to commute and travel to multiple site locations around the Downtown Toronto, Etobicoke, Mississauga area.
2. Response Security - support security team to fill open positions/shifts.
3. Support daily security operations.
4. Maintain compliance with and enforce property standards, rules, and regulations in a reasonable manner.
5. Able to use tact and diplomacy in dealings across a range of settings and situations.
6. Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid, CPR, or AED support until medical professionals arrive.
7. Ability to maintain and enforce access control procedures.
8. Solid understanding of emergency and standard operating procedures.
9. Deal with trespassers and unauthorized persons found on the property, in a fair and safe manner, by enforcing the Trespass to Property Act.
10. Assist with Fire & Life Safety inspections.
11. Maintain a detailed memo book and prepare incident reports on all matters dealt with using CF's standard report-writing program.
12. Conduct periodic patrols of property either by foot or by vehicle.
13. Investigate incidents and occurrences.
14. Draft detailed incident and occurrence reports.
15. Maintain the peace, safety, and security of all patrons, clients on the property.
16. Monitor CCTV surveillance systems.
17. De-escalate emergency / crisis situations.
18. Assist emergency and law enforcement personnel.
19. Access control, line management, customer service.
20. Assist with daily operations as needed/required or directed.
21. Other duties as outlined by management.

Qualifications:

1. Must be willing and able to stand, walk, patrol by foot and vehicle for extended periods (8-12 hours).
2. Must demonstrate a high degree of professionalism.
3. Must have at least 1 year of mall security or relevant experience.
4. Must have a G class driver's license with a clean drivers abstract.
5. Must be willing and able to provide a recent and valid vulnerable sector check, criminal background check and driver's abstract as required.
6. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
7. Must have a strong command and fluency in the English language both written and verbal.
8. Must be able to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment both indoors and outdoors as required.
9. Must be able to handle stress and pressure and make a sound decision under duress.
10. Must be comfortable working in a busy highly populated area.
11. Must demonstrate high attention to detail / observational awareness.
12. Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence and the ability to work productively and efficiently in a team.

Prerequisites: At the time of the interview, applicants must be able to produce proof of completion of the following:

1. Must have a valid Standard First Aid & CPR
2. Must have a Valid Ontario Security Guard License
3. Fully Vaccinated against COVID-19 - 2 doses min
4. Basic Security Training Certification Requirements (All)
5. Vulnerable Sector Check
6. COVID Double Vaccinated
7. Standard First Aid, CPR Level C
8. Valid Ontario Security License
9. Valid G or G2 Drivers License
