Job DescriptionWe are currently looking for a Supervisor of Health & Fitness to provide leadership, training and direction to a team of volunteers and staff who are responsible for providing quality YMCA health and wellness services.
Responsibilities- Develop program initiatives to enhance opportunities and services for members and participants in the program area aligned with HFA member retention plan.
- Challenge the status quo to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate programs that impact the experience of members in the conditioning room and surrounding areas.
- Coordinate and schedule department activities and programs to ensure budget targets are met.
- Conduct Fitness and Lifestyle Appraisals, prescribe exercise routines and follow up with assisted members to achieve their personal fitness goals.
- Provide leadership in the planning and delivery of YMCA Fitness Leadership courses and certification.
- Ensure success criteria for self, staff and programs are set, reviewed and surpassed regularly to provide excellent service delivery.
- Provide training and support to staff and volunteers.
- Recruit, hire and supervise staff, volunteers and schedule training events for staff and volunteers to ensure compliance with mandatory certifications.
- Assist in the development of the department budget and attain targets.
- Schedule staff and volunteers.
- Follow up on all incident reports and comment cards.
- Provide leadership to the level of service delivery for the department using Priority SAM Standards.
- Build relationships with members and guests, and promote the YMCA as a charitable organization.
- College diploma in Recreation, Sports & Leisure, Kinesiology or related field.
- Nationally recognized Personal Trainer Certification.
- Certification in YMCA Group Fitness Certification or equivalent.
- Minimum of three years of supervisory experience within the core areas of health, fitness, recreation, outdoor education and administration.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstration of technical expertise in group fitness and individual conditioning.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR C.
- Current and satisfactory Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector.
