The aim is to provide a streamlined process and framework which will allow the development teams to focus on building business logic. The platform is used by development teams globally to host hundreds of applications. We are building our development team with makers, creators and industry leaders who will drive us forward. The Senior, Cloud Engineering role operates within the Cloud Platform Engineering team. This role will specialize in Cloud Developer Experience (DevEx) Engineering, focusing on building tools, frameworks, and workflows designed to streamline cloud-native development – making it seamless, scalable, and delightful for developers. This valuable team member will be responsible for creating platform components and services that support the broad enterprise use case. Is this role right for you? In this role, you will - Key accountabilities include development, management and maintenance of cloud platforms, services and components to enable safe enterprise-wide use of common cloud functionality. - Build and maintain developer-facing tools for interacting with various cloud platform technologies. - Create intuitive onboarding experiences and documentation for cloud services. - Develop internal portals and dashboards that simplify cloud resource management. - Advocate for developer needs in cloud architecture and product decisions. - Lead research and development of new patterns and best practices in cloud-native software development. - Collaborate with the product team and other stakeholders to estimate and size initiatives. - Mentor and coach other members of the cloud engineering team. - Level 3 support responsibilities are required. - Design, Implement and refactor code. - Lead design discussions focused on scalability and design and implementation best practices. - Ensure software, programs and applications are developed and/or configured to meet high availability, integrity and reliability requirements. - Work with other engineers and architects on breaking-down, scoping and estimating tasks. - Lead planning and retrospective sessions, attending stand‑ups, etc. - Build and operate the highly available and scalable software and infrastructure. - Support application teams on the use of the platform including providing guidance on design patterns, best practices, and security considerations. - Our teams are flexible and fast – you will be asked to provide peer review and quality control on a daily basis. Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have - 5+ years of relevant industry experience. - Enthusiasm for cloud platform/components/services development and developer experience. - Enthusiasm for bleeding edge technologies and patterns. - Strong desire to learn, grow yourself and your team. - Expertise in developing with a modern technology stack (i.e. React, Spring Boot). - Experience working with relational databases and non-relational databases. - Experience with cloud DevOps (i.e. GitOps, CI/CD). - Experience with cloud platforms (i.e. Azure, GCP) and cloud‑native patterns and architecture. - Experience with container orchestration (i.e. Kubernetes). - Good understanding of software development lifecycle as well as related technologies. - Good understanding of web application security concerns. - Bonus competency: Experience building internal developer platforms or portals. - Bonus competency: Experience working within Canadian financial institutions or regulated enterprise environments. - Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or engineering/mathematics discipline.
