Opportunity Summary

The Construction Safety Officer will be responsible for working collaboratively with site project teams and in partnership with our sub‑trades to implement and monitor the site‑specific safety plan, ensure compliance, report concerns, and implement solutions in accordance with Company’s safety program. The successful candidate will initially provide safety coverage for a project in North Vancouver. This role is employed through CLAC, and membership will be required once hired.

Key Responsibilities

- Actively monitor and influence work progress to ensure compliance with health and safety at the project site

- Proven ability in building and maintaining strong relationships with multiple stakeholders

- Ability to work with stakeholders to find creative, and balanced solutions to problems

- Document progress in daily progress reports

- Lead the weekly safety inspection alongside the project team and H&S Coordinator.

- Complete, document, and file all required daily, weekly, and monthly inspection reports.

- Accurately follow the reporting and notification process

- Provide site orientations to new workers/visitors to the site

- Monitor compliance with safety procedures and policies

- Educate workers on safety standards and best practices

- Initiate and supports incident response, notification, and investigation activities

- Conduct Toolbox meetings for site staff

- Review of all Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRA)

- Act as required to immediately correct unsafe acts or conditions

- Light physical duties as required for safety will be expected

- Communicate safety requirements to all on site

Qualifications

- Certified Construction Safety Officer (CSO) designation with a minimum of five years’ health and safety experience on a construction site.

- Current Fall Protection, SiteReadyBC, and Advanced First Aid certifications required.

- Proven ability in building and maintaining strong relationships with multiple stakeholders across various sites.

- Proficient working with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

- Excellent communication and influencing skills.

- Strong problem‑solving abilities with a focus on finding creative and balanced solutions.
