About the Role

Regent Strategics, in partnership with Persistent Systems, is seeking an experienced Java Developer with exposure to PHP frameworks. This hybrid opportunity in Toronto offers an excellent environment to work on enterprise-level applications, REST APIs, and modern backend technologies. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in Java development and a willingness to expand their skill set with PHP.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop scalable enterprise applications using Core Java, J2EE, and Spring Framework.

- Work on Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Hibernate projects to build efficient backend systems.

- Develop and maintain REST APIs and integrate GraphQL protocols for modern API interactions.

- Collaborate in a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) environment.

- Write clean, secure, and maintainable code following best Java coding practices.

- Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and architecture planning.

- Debug and resolve complex issues with precision and efficiency.

- Understand client requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

- Work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining high code quality.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- 6+ years of proven experience in Java development (Core Java, J2EE).

- Strong knowledge of the Spring Framework, including Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Hibernate.

- 1–3 years of experience with PHP and its frameworks (basic knowledge with willingness to learn also acceptable).

- Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs.

- Familiarity with GraphQL API integrations.

- Experience using version control systems (e.g., Git).

- Understanding of Design Patterns and their practical implementation.

- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving abilities.

- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

- Commitment to secure coding standards and best practices.

- A proactive attitude towards learning and adapting to new technologies.
