The role
SSEN Transmission has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Project Manager to join our onshore Capital Delivery team. This role is specifically for the Beauly - Spittal Project, a major new onshore (overhead line and substation) transmission infrastructure project.
It is an exciting period of growth for SSEN Transmission, we have an increasing number of complex and challenging infrastructure projects to develop and deliver. The Lead Project Manager is a pivotal and senior role in our Capital Delivery team, the successful candidate will play an important part in enabling the energy transition and supporting the Scottish and UK Government's Net Zero ambitions.
You will
1. Report to the Project Director and oversee the delivery of a set of major transmission infrastructure projects, manage a team of project and senior project managers and work closely with external delivery contractors and consultants.
2. Work closely with the Transmission Management team to uphold the highest level of safety performance and ensure projects are refined, constructed and commissioned in line with regulatory requirements.
3. Build and maintain productive and enduring relationships with Contractors, Stakeholders, Communities and the public to support the sustainable delivery of the projects that you are responsible for.
4. Identify business improvements and support colleagues and the business to develop, test, implement and verify business improvements. Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory and internal regulations, processes and governance.
You have
1. Extensive experience leading project teams to deliver large or major infrastructure projects in delivery phases and experience working at a senior level in project delivery, ideally with specific knowledge of electricity networks.
2. Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) and an advanced understanding of project management systems and governance for the execution of large projects.
3. A strong commercial background, experience managing large multi-million-pound contracts (in excess of £100m) and preferably experience working with NEC contract forms.
4. Preferably a professional registration or qualification, such as Chartered Project Professional, Chartered Engineer, or are working towards the same or similar.
Due to the need to travel between our offices and sites throughout Central and Northern Scotland, there is a requirement for you to have a full, current driving licence.
