About the job

Join Twilio's dynamic team as a Revenue Accounting Manager for Twilio Segment. Reporting to the Senior Revenue Accounting Manager, this role offers the opportunity to interact closely with leaders of Billing Operations, Commercial Solutions, FP&A, and other business operations teams. - Lead and continuously enhance the Segment Revenue Accounting team, prioritizing accuracy, efficiency, and developing in-depth expertise in ASC 606 and revenue recognition principles.
- Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring the timely and accurate completion of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and flux analyses.
- Review and analyze sales contracts to determine appropriate revenue recognition under ASC 606, conducting research and documenting conclusions as necessary.
- Partner with operational teams to refine revenue recognition processes and ensure the accuracy of financial systems.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional business partners to support company-wide initiatives and educate teams on revenue accounting principles and recognition requirements.
- Support quarterly and year-end audit activities, responding to inquiries and requests from internal and external auditors.
- Continuously identify opportunities for process improvement, implementing solutions that enhance efficiency.
- Lead and contribute to special projects, such as process improvements, new product launches, system implementations, and other ad hoc initiatives.

Qualifications

Not all applicants will have skills that match a job description exactly. Twilio values diverse experiences in other industries, and we encourage everyone who meets the required qualifications to apply. While having "desired" qualifications make for a strong candidate, we encourage applicants with alternative experiences to also apply. If your career is just starting or hasn't followed a traditional path, don't let that stop you from considering Twilio. We are always looking for people who will bring something new to the table

Required:

- A bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably in accounting or finance related fields and a minimum of 5-7 years' of relevant accounting experience with increasing scope, including strong US GAAP and accounting process knowledge, and experience understanding technical accounting standards. 2 + years experience in leadership roles.
- A proven ability to analyze, interpret, and effectively communicate financial results, variances, and trends. Model strong communication and interpersonal skills - numbers are key, but a successful business is built with people. Effective cross-functional communication to both financial and non-financial audiences are critical to making an impact.
- A diligent self-starter, with intense curiosity, and a proven ability to take initiative and be proactive in addressing complex issues. You have the ability to cut through the noise to identify the core components of a problem, and then drive toward an outcome that optimizes the impact.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including non-standard hours, to effectively manage the team located both in the US and India.
- Advanced spreadsheet skills - your team's workpapers are efficient and intuitive. You thrive in complexity but strive for simplicity and automation.
- Strong experience ensuring and modeling compliance with process controls, including SOX. Best practices are second nature to you and your team continually keeps this at the forefront.
- Experience at either high-growth technology startups or well-established companies.
- Experience with Oracle ERP, Zuora, Stripe, Salesforce and/or similar systems.
- Experience with Alteryx and Airtable.
- Public accounting experience.
