At the BSF we: - Embrace a culture of Resident and Family Centered Care - Take pride in providing the highest standard of care, service, and safety - Engage and collaborate with residents, families and team members - Act with compassion, empathy and understanding towards each other and those we care for What you will do: - Demonstrate awareness and understanding of the resident needs - Observe and report unusual signs/symptoms and incidences to the professional nursing staff - Provide timely information to the supervising professional regarding observed changes in physical, mental or emotional status/behaviour of the residents - Participate in the care plan for our residents - Recognize residents’ challenges related to vision, hearing, speech, and language and adapt practice to minimize these challenges - Document all care provided and behaviours noted on the appropriate forms and in the Point of Care (POC) system - Promote a healthy and safe practice environment – recognizing safety issues and reporting them immediately Why Join Us: At The Brenda Strafford Foundation, we are more than a workplace—we are a united team. Who We're Looking For: - Graduate of a Government of Alberta approved Health Care Aide program - Registered with the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory - Experience in geriatric, rehabilitation, or long-term care nursing is preferred The Health Care Aide must demonstrate: - Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and providing dignified care to all - Superior organizational and time management skills - Strong communication skills in person, in writing and over the phone - Flexibility, resourcefulness, and problem-solving skills - Commitment to being a strong team player Additional Information: In accordance with Alberta's Protection for Persons in Care Act, a criminal record check is required for successful candidates.
