Job Description

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values of Vancouver Island Health Authority, patient safety is a top priority. As a member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, the Community Health Worker provides personal care assistance and support to clients and their caregivers/families in the home setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with activities of daily living and delegated tasks as directed by established plans of care.
  • Travel may be required, and transportation arrangements must meet operational requirements of Vancouver Island Health Authority.
Qualifications

Home Support/Resident Care Attendant/Health Care Assistant Certificate from a recognized post-secondary program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Food Safe Certificate.
  • Valid BC driver's license.

Current registration and good standing with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry.

Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to perform job duties.
