As a Counsellor II in St. John’s,you’ll provide evidence-based, client-centered counselling to individuals navigating a wide range of personal and workplace challenges—including stress, mental health concerns, life transitions, and relationship or family issues. You’ll have the clinical autonomy to apply your expertise, while benefiting from TELUS Health’s supportive network of professionals and resources. This role empowers you to deliver the highest quality care, expand your clinical skills, and grow your practice within a respected, innovative organization committed to mental health excellence.****What you’ll do***** Provide evidence-based therapy—both in person and digitally—from our St. John’s office, using solution-focused, brief, and longer-term modalities customized to each client’s needs and goals.* Support clients through our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and Total Mental Health (TMH) programs, addressing complex presentations including mental health disorders, addictions, relationship concerns and workplace stress* Apply strength-based, client-centered approaches that honor diverse backgrounds and empower individuals to achieve meaningful change* Maintain clinical autonomy while collaborating with a Regional Clinical Supervisor who supports your professional development* Engage in ongoing clinical consultation, peer learning and access to continuing education opportunities* Use digital systems to work efficiently, while leveraging initiative and adaptive problem-solving to respond effectively when processes require adjustment.* Serve as the Health & Safety Representative for the office, collaborating with management on workplace safety protocols****What You Bring****Required:* Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work or related field* Minimum five years of post-master's direct clinical experience with diverse populations and presenting concerns* Current registration in good standing with one of the following: CCPA – CCC level membership, NLPB, NLCSW* Strong clinical competency in solution-focused therapy, brief interventions, and longer-term modalities.* Ability to establish therapeutic rapport quickly with clients from diverse cultural, social, and economic backgrounds.* Excellent clinical judgment, self-direction, and comfort working independently in a high-volume practice setting.* Proficiency with electronic health records and digital clinical tools.* Commitment to evidence-informed practice, ethical standards, and continuous professional development.* Experience working with blue-collar or trades populations and familiarity with workplace-related trauma preferred.* Highly organized, solution-oriented, and able to adapt to dynamic scheduling and caseload demands.Great-to-haves:* Clinical experience with substance use disorders and addiction counselling.* Previous experience in EAP, workplace mental health, or integrated care settings.* Familiarity with St. John’s community resources and service networks.* Additional certifications in specialized therapeutic modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT, EMDR, trauma-informed care).****What TELUS Health Offers You***** Competitive compensation with flexible FTE options to suit your lifestyle* Comprehensive benefits from day one: customizable medical, vision and dental coverage, plus up to $5,000 annually for your own mental health support* Clinical excellence bonus rewarding high-quality care delivery* Professional development support: paid professional development days, clinical supervision, continuing education opportunities and professional membership renewal coverage* Work-life balance: generous paid time off including vacation and well-being days, plus schedule flexibility* Career growth: clear pathways for advancement within Canada's largest integrated health services organization* Clinical community: access to peer consultation, specialized clinical resources and a network of dedicated mental health professionals* Modern tools: user-friendly digital platforms that reduce administrative burden* Meaningful impact: serve your Thunder Bay community while being part of a mission-driven organization improving access to quality mental health care across Canada****Our Commitment to You****At TELUS Health, we believe that diverse teams deliver better care.
