- Permanent Full-time (35 hours/week; 1 FTE)
Davenport-Perth Neighbourhood Centre and Community Health Centre (DPNCHC) is a multi-service organization that provides various health and community programs and services for a diverse community. We are seeking a counsellor/therapist to provide both one-to-one and group counselling to youth and adults. We are expanding our services to deepen our work with Black-identified community members and youth. We recognize the importance of allyship and the critical role allies play in affecting change. The successful candidate will be expected to work one evening a week, some weekends, and work independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities:
- Provides psychosocial assessment and counseling services to youth, adults, and family members with mental health concerns.
- Ensures comprehensive treatment for clients by providing information to other team members on an ongoing basis and by providing consultation on psychosocial issues to DPNCHC staff.
- Act as a client advocate on individual and systemic issues.
- Provides group counselling and workshops for clients in collaboration with other staff and/or partner agencies.
- Support DPNCHC youth programming by attending programs to conduct outreach and provide support and workshops.
- Contribute to the ongoing evaluation, development, and implementation of therapeutic programs at DPNCHC.
Minimum Requirements:
- Graduate degree in relevant discipline from a recognized university.
- Registration with the College of Social Workers or College of Registered Psychotherapists.
- A minimum of three years experience in counseling/therapy, preferably in a community health setting.
- Experience working with clients with mental health and addictions issues.
- Knowledge of community-based health services including the special needs of priority populations (e.g. newcomers, low income, people with addictions, post psychiatric, abuse survivors, etc.).
- Experience in program development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working with changing client groups from diverse cultural backgrounds and needs.
- Additional language skills are an asset.
- Knowledge of the Davenport Perth community is an asset.
Salary range: $66,290 - $78,184 per annum, plus Extended Health Benefits and Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP). This position is part of the bargaining unit.
