Senior PHP Technical Lead

Charlottetown, Canada Built By Torq Full time

As Senior PHP Technical Lead, you are expected to become an expert on Implementing and extending one of our Data or Ecommerce Platforms in PHP and Symfony. You will lead and deliver projects for clients by managing and mentoring other developers and maintaining client relationships. This will include working with a small and multi-functional team to architect, develop, and deliver solutions to our clients. Working on multiple projects for clients ranging from enterprise to startup scale, talking to clients to understand requirements and deliver progress, developing in the frontend and backend, reviewing Pull Requests, or identifying improvements to the efficiency of all projects.

You will become an expert at configuring, extending, and customizing solutions for our clients. You will help understand our clients’ business needs, and work with our delivery team to configure or extend the platform to meet those needs. You will build, use, and improve shared bundles to provide improvements to multiple clients at once using PHP and Symfony. You will understand platform-first solutions like using the configuration tools, core plugins, and low-code / extension options provided by the platform. You may deliver custom User Interfaces in HTML templates (Twig), React.js, TypeScript, or others depending on project requirements.

Location:

We're headquartered in Charlottetown, PEI, and would love candidates who can work part of their time in the office with the team. That said, we'll consider remote arrangements within the Maritime provinces for strong candidates.

Technologies:

Our stack centers on PHP and Symfony, with MySQL/MariaDB on the backend. You'll work with HTML, CSS, and TypeScript on the frontend, and Git for version control. Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and React.js is a plus.

What Success Looks Like:

- Projects are delivered on time that meet performance benchmarks

- You hold a deep knowledge of the Platform

- Code is clean, maintainable, and well-documented

- You contribute ideas to improve both technical and business outcomes

- Clients are satisfied and trust your technical insight

Our Passion: At TORQ, we exist to make our clients’ lives better — by simplifying complexity, delivering measurable outcomes, focusing on the ROI of our clients, and building long‑term digital foundations that grow with their business.

Our Niche: We’re the go‑to implementation partner for commerce and data platforms — especially Pimcore, Shopware, and the custom integrations that connect them to the broader enterprise ecosystem.

Our Core Values:

- We Act with Purpose: We prioritize traction and results in every initiative, keeping projects focused on delivering real business value.

- Continuous Improvement: We iterate, learn, and refine continuously — always raising the bar to improve our processes and outcomes.

- High Ownership: Every team member takes responsibility for the outcome, not just their individual task. We own challenges end‑to‑end to guarantee success.

- Solution Focused: We lead with answers. Instead of dwelling on problems, we adapt to obstacles and drive forward with practical solutions.

- Professional: In every engagement, we bring clarity, consistency, and respect. Our team operates with professionalism that you can depend on, ensuring a positive and productive collaboration.

We are North America’s top Pimcore implementation partner and a leading implementation partner for Shopware. We would love to help you with any of your digital needs or show you how we can help take your business to the next level with our PIM and Ecommerce Solutions.

- Code Review: Using code reviews, pairing, or other processes provide constructive feedback and enforce coding quality and consistency across the team.

- Continuous Improvement:Drive improvement in code, architecture, and processes

- Project Management: Collaborate with clients and project managers to understand, estimate, and deliver solutions.
