VP, Investment Portfolio Consultant

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Investment Portfolio Consultant to join our distribution team. This role will be critical in developing and implementing optimized portfolio strategies that align with client objectives and risk profiles. The successful candidate will work very closely with the distribution team as well as portfolio managers, research teams, and strategists to design provide analytics and support, review diversified portfolios, analyze asset allocation models, and be an integral part of fostering the client journey.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

- Design and implement customized portfolios for clients, focusing on asset allocation, risk management, and portfolio diversification. Work cross-functionally to ensure that client portfolios are structured in line with investment goals and market conditions.
- Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Track and evaluate portfolio performance against benchmarks, providing detailed reports and insights to stakeholders. Conduct performance attribution analysis to identify drivers of returns and areas for improvement.
- Deliver model portfolio presentations to current and prospective Clients via telephone, WebEx, office visits, seminars, and conferences.
- Utilize quantitative tools and risk models to optimize portfolios using mean-variance analysis and other relevant techniques.
- Tailor investment portfolios to meet specific client needs, including considerations for tax, liquidity constraints, and investment time horizons.
- Approach all interactions as a consultant, starting with client needs and optimally using internal resources needed to meet those needs, including delivering insight-based education, coaching, and portfolio construction consultations.
- Provide education to a wide range of clients with varying degrees of model portfolio knowledge on investment strategies, product positioning and portfolio implementation across the entire CI Global Asset Management investment platform.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field. CFA designation or progress toward CFA is preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in portfolio construction, asset allocation, or investment strategy roles within asset management or wealth management firms.
- Background in and knowledge of capital markets, model portfolios, mutual funds, ETFs, and SMAs is essential.
- Proficiency in portfolio management software (e.g., Morningstar Direct, Bloomberg, FactSet, Aladdin), and strong skills in Excel for financial modeling and analysis. Experience with programming languages (Python, R, or SQL) and optimization techniques is an advantage.
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on identifying trends, solving complex problems, and making data-driven decisions to optimize portfolios.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach, working effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Attention to Detail: High level of precision in portfolio management activities, ensuring accurate data analysis and reporting.
- Be comfortable with travel across Canada to deliver presentations and meet prospective clients.
