Structural Engineer-in-Training

As an integral member of our structural department, your main role will be to assist our senior engineer in the preparation of design (concept and detailed), computer modeling, and the preparation of drawings. This includes residential and commercial buildings, industrial structures, infrastructure, dams, and bridges. Travel to job sites may be required on a short-term basis for field visits, inspections, or construction and project management support.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and characteristics:
- EIT with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Master's degree is considered an asset.
- Minimum of three years of relevant experience.
- Capable of developing creative yet practical solutions and open to alternative solutions.
- Working knowledge of codes and standards such as BCBC, NBC, CISC, CSA (S16 and A23.3), AISC, ACI, ASCE.
- Experience with structural analysis software such as SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD, and RISA. Experience with advanced software like ABAQUS and ANSYS is an asset but not required.
- Familiarity with construction methods.
- Strong attention to detail, quality, and accuracy.
- Member in good standing of Engineers and Geoscientists BC, or the ability to become one within a year.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Awareness of Health, Safety, Environment, and Community (HSEC) policies and standards.
- Ability to liaise with clients, contractors, and consultants is considered an asset. A valid BC driver’s license is also an asset but not required.
