Organizational Information
Purpose of your Position - Non Union
An Equipment Operator V operates and maintains heavy mobile equipment of a complex nature according to proper competency standards, safety practices and regulations. Performs manual work.
Duties - Union
1. Operates heavy equipment of a complex nature – e.g. graders, excavators.
2. Plans, organizes and creates work schedules; supervises the quality and accuracy of "finishing to proper grades" in road building operations.
3. Ensures safe work practices are in effect for underground excavations.
4. Reads and interprets blueprints.
5. May supervise and provide "crew-leader" direction to co-workers and contractors on specific job requirements.
6. Performs routine inspection, maintenance, lubrication and fueling of equipment.
7. Uses hand tools for routine maintenance and changing of attachments.
8. Refers equipment for mechanical services as required.
9. Responds to routine public enquiries; maintains written records of work performed.
10. Performs manual work as required.
Results and Activities - Non union
1. High school graduation or equivalent.
2. Experience.
3. BC Drivers License – Class 3 with Air Ticket.
4. City of Kelowna Certification (on designated equipment/trucks).
Physical Demands
Potential to work in all weather conditions. Physical labour is possible and expected.
Additional Hiring Information
Pay Rate: $37.99 per hour
