Job Title: Senior Rock Mechanics Engineer (Open Pit)

Description of Responsibilities:

We are seeking a Senior Rock Mechanics Engineer with solid open pit experience to join our team. The successful candidate will consult on projects for clients worldwide, applying rock mechanics principles to predominantly surface and some underground projects and mines. This work involves leading full project scopes from conceptual studies through to detailed design and construction stage, collaborating with the mining team and other technical specialists as required.

  1. A minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience, with preference given to those with open pit operating mine experience.
  2. Substantial practical experience in geotechnical logging, including the development and management of field programs.
  3. Proficiency in geological modelling software.
  4. Proficiency in 2D/3D geotechnical numerical modelling.
  5. Hydrogeology experience is considered an asset.
  6. Demonstrated team leadership and project management experience.
  7. Ability to establish and maintain client relationships.
  8. Professional registration or eligibility to obtain it in short order.

This position involves working in multi-disciplinary teams on a range of projects both nationally and overseas; international travel may form a significant part of the role.

In Return:

  1. An estimated salary of $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience.
  2. Diversity of projects and clients within a non-hierarchical consultancy environment.
