The Manager – Financial Planning & Analysis is to manage and support Xplornet's Finance department with budgeting, forecasting, and analysis of various operating and financial metrics for the organization. The role will be responsible for managing the company's annual budgeting process ensuring that department budgets and strategic plans are in alignment with the company's overall corporate objectives and targets. The role will also manage the company's rolling forecast process working to make continuous improvements to the process, improve forecast accuracy and assist in strategic decision making across the organization. The Manager will work with various analysts, both within finance and also in other departments to better understand financial and operating performance drivers within the company. The role will provide analysis of key metrics such as cost per subscriber, unit costing and other key metrics to assist in decision making. In addition, the role will be responsible for maintaining, updating and enhancing the company's business model as well as developing business cases in support of operating departments throughout the organization.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Develop intimate understanding of Xplornet's business model. Maintain, update and enhance the business model to ensure accuracy and efficiency for periodic company forecasting.
2. Liaise with internal departments, developing strong working relationships while gathering and consolidating information on company forecasts including KPIs/metrics used for regular reporting/monitoring/forecasting and for documenting business requirements. Provide leadership, guidance and support by interacting with internal customers professionally and positively at all times.
3. Responsible to develop operating reports for the Xplornet Finance organization and other operating departments. The frequency of these reports will vary from weekly, monthly and quarterly depending on the KPI/metric being reported. Provide other ad-hoc reports and analysis as required.
4. Develop statistical methods and statistical analysis which gathers and analyzes data to identify trends and/or provide insight into business problems.
5. Intimately understand the complexity of our business processes, identifying opportunities for improvement and proposing recommendations for increasing effectiveness of business processes, efficiency and productivity gains, cost avoidance or reduction. Assist with the implementation and measurement of new business processes.
6. Excellent financial modeling skills and experience.
7. Working knowledge and experience with forecasting methodologies and budget management; experience with enterprise planning software an asset.
8. Demonstrated analytical ability with focus on detail, accuracy, complex problem solving and logic capabilities.
9. An understanding of the telecommunications industry.
10. Advanced working knowledge of MS Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
11. Proficient in advanced MS Excel functions such as pivot tables, v-lookup functions and general data manipulation.
12. Ability to multi-task and understand competing priorities following through to the completion of projects.
13. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly and convincingly communicate, both written and oral with both technical and non-technical internal customers.
14. Successful track record working in team environments with proven ability to influence others without direct responsibility.

The ideal candidate will possess:

1. An accounting designation (CPA) or actively enrolled to complete the designation.
2. 5-10 years experience in providing advanced forecasting and reporting.
3. Provided forecasting and reporting for a $100 million company.
4. Experience utilizing advanced forecasting software as part of the integrated financial planning solution.
5. Experience within the telecommunication or a similar industry is an asset.
