Contract Senior Java Developer

Our Client is the leading provider of full-service backup and recovery technology and is engaged by ROSS to help them recruit a Contract Senior Java Developer. ROSS is a team of People Specialists helping companies align their People Strategy with their business growth.

This is a 6‑Month Contract located in GTA – WEST.

What you need to have

- 7+ years of hands‑on, practical software development experience
- 5+ years’ experience with Java (including JNI)
- Experience writing multi‑threaded and/or multi‑process code

What you will be doing

- Drive the product line in terms of innovation and quality
- Participate in team meetings to design and estimate development stories
- Participate in code reviews and pair programming activities
- Collaborate with others on approaches to solve tasks
- Build solid products with clean, well‑designed, unit‑tested code
- Use cutting‑edge development techniques, including TTD

Nice to have

- 2+ years’ experience with Hadoop technologies (including Pig, HDFS, HIVE, NoSQL)
- 5+ years’ experience with C++ (including boost and STL)
- 5+ years’ experience with multi‑platform development (Windows/Linux)
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- Strong English written and oral communication skills
- Must be self‑motivated
- Strong unit testing software skills/experience
- A passion for keeping up with new technologies
- Very solid personal organizational and prioritization skills
