What is the Opportunity?
As part of a partnership with Kiewit Nuclear Canada and Ontario Power Generation (OPG), Aecon will support the construction of Unit 1 of the Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site. The Project Coordinator will work within the DNNP Nuclear Island, managing the Reactor Building construction scope including containment, equipment, and the Reactor Pressure Vessel.
What You’ll Do Here:
- Assist in the development and maintenance of comprehensive work packages in cooperation with construction and engineering teams.
- Provide status reports of project milestones and adjust schedules as needed.
- Coordinate preparation and delivery of project deliverables—design documents, as‑built drawings, turnover documents, etc.
- Ensure construction activities comply with approved policies, standards, programs, and procedures.
- Serve as the liaison between field trades and design engineers to resolve problems and facilitate information flow.
- Forecast and track change orders and scope changes.
- Coordinate site procurement activities, validate material specifications, prepare purchase requisitions, track material deliveries, and maintain traceability of installed materials.
- Establish and maintain interfaces with internal groups, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Develop and write detailed work plans in cooperation with construction leads.
- Maintain high standards related to final product quality.
- Perform regular field tours to monitor work progress and engage with project site personnel.
- Carry out site safety inspections.
- Participate in company‑wide initiatives aimed at continuous improvement.
What You Bring to the Team:
- Post‑secondary education in an Engineering Civil discipline.
- 1–4 years of project engineering experience in construction or EPC environments.
- Experience preparing construction work packages is a plus.
- Experience working under a Nuclear Quality Program is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
- Strong interpersonal skills for communicating with large teams.
- Organizational and time‑management skills; ability to prioritize and multi‑task in a service‑oriented environment.
- Thrives in a fast‑paced environment.
