Description

RothLochston is currently recruiting an Electrical Estimator/Project Coordinator to join the team at Paradise, NL. This opportunity will enable you to play a key role in a fast-paced operations team, collaborating with individuals across all areas of the business. This role will be responsible for safety, estimation, planning, project coordination, and quality. Multi-discipline experience will be considered an asset.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

- Generation of tender estimates; estimates include, but are not limited to: materials, fabrication, subcontracts, construction labour, equipment, and project indirects.
- Analyze tender packages to determine time, cost, materials, and labour resources required to complete the proposed work scope.
- Consult internally with project managers and field supervision in the development of cost estimates.
- Attend pre-tender site visits.
- Complete quantity take-offs based on tender drawings.
- Obtain prices for materials and equipment.
- Obtain, review, and compile subcontractor quotations.
- Evaluate and provide cost and schedule impacts of the various alternative construction methods and materials.
- Prepare pre-tender preliminary construction schedule.
- Assist with the preparation of the tender submission documents (price schedules, construction schedules, resource loadings).

Project Coordination:

- Monitor construction productivity and identify trends or gaps in budget. Report gaps and trends to the respective Project Manager.
- Determine daily progress and provide data to Project Scheduler/Planner.
- Prepare material take-offs, source material pricing, assess productivity rates, and estimate work hour requirements.
- Identify and assist with the management of project resources with appropriate skills and levels.
- Assist with project scheduling to deliver projects on time and on budget.
- Identify, communicate, and implement risk mitigation plans to project completion (time/budget).
- Assist with the planning and preparation for regular project reviews with various levels within management and with the client.
- Assist with the management of scope change by identifying impacts to budget and schedule.
- Coordinate project issues at appropriate levels within the Company and the client organization.
- Coordinate procurement of equipment and technology from vendors/suppliers, ensuring administration and management of activities follow Company policies.
- Effectively coordinate with field personnel to ensure the needs of personnel and the client are met.
- Communicate ideas for improving company processes with a positive and constructive attitude.
- Participate in staff training programs.
- Develop and participate in post-project completion reviews/lessons learned.
- Development and completion of ITP's.
- Completion of Quality Verification Documentation.
- Coordination of commissioning activities and critical vendors.
- Completion of turnover documentation.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

- An Electrical Engineer, Certified Engineering Technologist, or other journeyperson trade qualifications, academic training, and experience deemed equivalent.
- Construction/project management – proficient ability to read and understand mechanical, structural, civil plans and specifications and tender documents.
- Proficient in the use and application of computers and related software (e.g., Microsoft software, specifically Excel, Adobe/Bluebeam, CAD).
- Competency in budgets, estimating, project planning, cost control, and analytical reporting.
- Possess strong communication skills and the ability to effectively present concepts and proposals to all personnel from senior management to industrial trade's employees.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
