The Public Service Commission (PSC) provides human resources services to the Government of Alberta. The Leadership and Talent Management (LTM) Branch is responsible for cultivating leadership capacity at all levels of the Alberta Public Service (APS), with a particular focus on executive and senior manager talent management and development. The branch supports alignment with APS priorities, fosters a culture of continuous learning, and supports a culture of continuous learning and leadership excellence, aligning talent strategies with organizational goals.

Your work will directly shape how the Government of Alberta develops its next generation of leaders. You’ll design and deliver programs that strengthen executive talent pipelines, integrate succession planning with leadership development, and provide actionable insights to senior decision‑makers.
What You’ll Do
- Lead Strategic Talent Initiatives: Design and implement government‑wide programs for executive assessment, succession planning, and leadership development.
- Drive Data‑Informed Decisions: Oversee talent reviews, assessment methodologies, and dashboards that inform executive appointments and development.
- Champion Equity & Consistency: Establish policies and tools that ensure fair, transparent, and aligned talent practices across departments.
- Collaborate at the Highest Level: Partner with deputy ministers, senior executives, HR portfolio teams, and external vendors to deliver integrated talent strategies.
- Inspire & Lead a High‑Performing Team: Guide a diverse team of specialists in talent management, analytics, and program design.

- Expertise in data‑driven decision‑making, program design, and change management.
- Experience in large, complex public sector environments is an asset.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills to work effectively with executives and external partners.

Qualifications
Minimum recruitment standard: University graduation in Public Administration, Business, HR Management or other related field, supplemented by seven years of progressive experience in Talent Management, Leadership Development, or executive HR functions.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience is considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

Hours of Work: 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
This is a permanent full‑time position.
