Opportunity Description:

We're looking for an experienced Volunteer Treasurer to join our Board of Directors. In this role, you'll help manage our finances and play an active part in shaping the future of REALM.

Board meetings are scheduled in the evening approximately 8 times a year plus one or two days a year for strategic planning and other Board activities. Board members are asked to volunteer with various fundraising activities.

Position Summary:

As the Volunteer Treasurer, you'll oversee the organization's financial health while also actively contributing to hands-on activities that directly support our mission. Working closely with the Executive Director, Finance Committee, and Board members, you'll provide strategic financial oversight to guide REALM's future.

In this role, you'll collaborate with our financial team, lead efforts around policy development, and shape key decisions to ensure financial best practices are followed as we work together toward our shared goals.

Our passionate team works to help people with differing abilities create Personal Volunteer Support Networks that empower them to live fully connected lives within their communities.

Key Responsibilities:

- Financial Management: Oversee budgeting, accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and reporting. Participate in hands-on financial tasks as needed.
- Team Engagement: Lead and collaborate with the financial team in developing policies, making strategic financial decisions, and ensuring best practices are followed.
- Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow and financial transactions.
- Financial Reporting: Present clear, concise financial reports to the team and stakeholders.
- Financial Strategy: Provide insights to support decision-making and long-term strategic planning.
- Audit & Review Preparation: Assist with audit and review processes, ensuring compliance.
- Fundraising Support: Aid in fundraising activities, grants, and donor relations.
- Compliance: Ensure the organization adheres to financial regulations and reporting requirements.

Qualifications:

- A background in finance or relevant experience
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
- Experience with financial controls and budget management
- Proficiency in online platforms and digital tools
- Familiarity with QuickBooks or similar accounting software
