QUALITY CONTROL MANAGER

We are currently seeking an energetic, self-motivated, career-minded individual to join our team as a Quality Control Manager (QCM).

The QCM position will be of interest to CPAs who have at least three-to-five years of experience in public practice, and who would like to build a career working in a firm that provides a full range of accounting and tax advisory services to small and medium-sized, owner-managed business clients. In addition, this position will be of interest to those individuals who prefer to live in a smaller city, and who can appreciate the unique opportunities that exist when working for an established, owner-managed accounting firm. The successful candidate will join the firm's assurance team to review (and occasionally prepare) completed file work, manage the firm's Quality Management System, and provide friendly support to the firm's staff - all with a focus on delivering exemplary customer service to the firm's clients.

Responsibilities:

1. Reviewing completed compilation and assurance engagements, including financial statements and supporting working papers, T2 Corporate Income Tax Returns, T5013 Partnership Information Returns, and T3 Trust Income Tax Returns;
2. Managing the firm's Quality Management System, in accordance with CSQM 1 and CSQM 2;
3. Providing assistance and/or training to accounting technicians and other staff, as necessary;
4. Occasionally participating in tax planning engagements for small and medium-sized business clients;
5. Being a "team player", with a focus on developing and maintaining strong client relationships and delivering exemplary customer service to the firm's clients.

Qualifications:

1. CPA Canada Member;
2. Minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience in public practice;
3. Strong knowledge of ASPE would be an asset;
4. Excellent time management skills;
5. Proficiency in income tax and GST/HST laws and policies, sufficient to provide tax advisory assistance, and to complete and/or review T1, T2, T3, T5013 income tax or information returns and GST/HST returns and various elections would be an asset;
6. Experience with Caseware/Caseview, and Microsoft Office would be an asset;
7. Experience with Taxprep software would be an asset;
8. Experience working in a "paper-light" office environment would be an asset;
9. Knowledge of the agriculture industry would be an asset;
10. Excellent English communication skills - both oral and written - is required;
11. Must be a team player, team leader, a "people-person";
12. Must conduct oneself with a high level of integrity and work ethic.

Initial Salary will be commensurate with Experience.
