Intent of the process
This selection process will be used to staff positions within the Canadian Coast Guard in Prince Rupert, BC. A pool of qualified candidates will be created and may be used to staff similar positions, on a temporary or permanent basis. Positions to be filled: Number to be determined
You need (essential for the job)
Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following
Stream 1: GL-EIM-11 Electrician
Occupational Certification:
- Possession of a Valid Inter‑Provincial Journeyperson Trade Certification as an Electrician____________________________________________________________
Stream 2: GL-EIM-11 Mechanic
Occupational Certification:
- Possession of valid Inter‑Provincial Journeyperson Trades Certification in one of the following:
- Heavy Duty Mechanic
- Automotive Mechanic
Stream 3: GL-WOW-10 Carpenter
Occupational Certification:
- Possession of a Valid Inter‑Provincial Trades Certification in Carpentry
Experience:
- Experience working at height
- Experience in refurbishment and construction of buildings and structures
- Experience in building concrete forms, and placing and finishing concrete
- Experience in the installation of building exterior protective materials______________________________________
Stream 4: GL-PRW-10 Communications Rigger
Occupational Certification:
- Possession of current and valid Rope Access or Fall Arrest Certification (SPRAT or IRATA Level 1)
Experience:
- Minimum 1 years’ experience working on guyed or self‑supporting communication towers and other antenna supporting structures.
- Experience in the installation, removal, and maintenance of antennas and transmission line systems respective to land based communications infrastructure.
Stream 5: GL-MAN-08 Laborer/Operator
Occupational Certification:
- Certification in one of the following:
- Class Three with Air Endorsement
- Mobile Crane Certification
- Successful completion of the Canadian Coast Guard Ridged Hull Inflatable Operators Training (RHIOT)
Experience:
- Experience in general/semi‑skilled construction and maintenance of equipment_______________________________________
Stream 6: GL-MAN-05 General Laborer
Experience:
- Experience in general/semi‑skilled construction and maintenance of equipment__________________________________________________________

Essential Qualifications for ALL Streams

Asset qualifications are qualifications that may be required for the position. If you possess any of the qualifications listed below, please clearly demonstrate how you meet the qualification in your application. Occupational Certification:
- Forklift operator's certification
Experience:
- Experience in construction, modification, maintenance, repair, or life cycle management of CCG Aids to Navigation, associated facilities or assets
- Experience working with helicopters
- Experience working at height
- Experience working in the Pacific marine environment and basic seamanship______________________________________
