Reporting to the Resident Program Manager, the Resident Services Aide will be scheduled to work directly with residents and in all departments. This includes nursing, support services, administration, and program services. As a valued member of Long-Term Care Services, you will demonstrate a commitment to resident safety by providing quality services in accordance with the organization’s mission and vision. Responsibilities may include resident specific programming, companionship, portering, light resident housekeeping and laundry tasks, meal service, and clerical. This position assumes an active role in the infection prevention and control program and assists with the orientation of new staff as required.RESPONSIBILITIES & QUALIFICATIONSGrade 12 DiplomaExperience with an older adult population an assetStrong customer and resident service skills. Experience in a high paced customer service setting an assetFlexible and willingness to learn new tasksAbility to multi-task and adapt to quickly changing prioritiesExcellent interpersonal and oral communication skillsAbility to read, write, and follow instructions in English (other languages an asset)Ability to work well independently with minimal supervision and in a team environmentAdheres to established department policies, procedures regarding quality assurance, fire safety, environment, and infection controlParticipates in facility meetings and attends in-service education programs as assignedKnowledge or willingness to learn environmental cleaning, check supplies and inventory and replenish, assist with dining clearing dishes and wiping tables, garbage removal1:1 recreational activity and any other duties by supervisor or delegateAbility to stand, walk, squat, reach, lift for significant periods throughout the shift.Ability to work safely, following established safety practices and procedures Must be able to work Variable Hours & Weekends in accordance to the Collective Agreement and the needs of the home.
