Applications are invited from teachers with BC Certification for the following teaching position: Eke Me-Xi Learning Centre, Port Hardy, BC 0.17 FTE Continuing - Workplace Math 10/11 open until filled Commencing: ASAP The successful candidate will have the following qualifications: strong classroom management skills; recent successful secondary experience; academic training, qualifications and recent successful experience teaching secondary school level Math; knowledge and understanding of the cultural values, traditions, and language of the Kwak'wala speaking peoples - Indigenous ancestry preferred;the ability and energy to work with multi-age groups and meet the needs of students with a range of learning styles and abilities using a variety of teaching strategies;the ability to work closely with staff in a team oriented approach to teaching and learning; strong interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills to communicate with students, staff, and parents in a team oriented approach to teaching and learning; strong formative assessment practices; experience with RTI (Response to Intervention) systems; ability to integrate technology to enhance student learning; strong interest in innovation and inquiry; a desire to work in a flexible alternative learning environment; and ability to embed local Indigenous culture and ways of knowing into teaching practices. The starting annual salary for a full-time School Teacher position ranges from $64,368 to $112,637, with placement in the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.
