Summary
DMC is currently looking for a Intermediate Engineer, Electrical to join our team on a permanent basis, based in Vaughan, Ontario. The Intermediate Engineer, Electrical will be responsible for coordinating and performing electrical engineering and design for specialized underground mining, shaft sinking, and mining construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Oversees the electrical design including preparation of various deliverables such as single line diagrams, equipment layouts, cable tray layouts, grounding layouts, wiring and schematic diagrams, installation details, panel schedules, cable schedules, electrical heat tracing, bill of materials, PLC, or instrumentation panels, etc.
- Assesses the feasibility of proposed plans, projects, and equipment from an electrical perspective.
- Participates in the planning and creation of drawings and designs involving detailed analysis and design of electrical systems.
- Produce equipment specifications, datasheets, and scope of work.
- Serve as the electrical package owner, overseeing the completion of the scope, managing deliverables, and tracking budget and scope changes.
- Perform power system analysis and prepare or review reports, such as load flow, short circuit, arc flash, coordination, harmonics, grounding, and lightning protection.
- Evaluates and reviews all electrical engineering work before being released including designs, drawings, code, and integration with other disciplines.
- Ensures design compliance with relevant engineering standards and codes, as well as internal QA/QC procedures.
- Support the development of proposals, including methodology, budget estimation, and scheduling.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously through effective prioritization and schedule management.
- Develops, approves and co-ordinates work schedules to ensure that objectives of cost, quality and time are met.
- Exercises initiative in adapting and applying procedures to address unusual situations and to resolve issues.
- Work is assigned in terms of objectives, relative priorities and critical areas that impact on the work of other units.
- Assigns and outlines work, advises on technical problems and reviews work for technical accuracy and adequacy.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with 5 to 10+ years of experience.
- Professional Engineer designation (P.
Eng.) in the province of Ontario.
- 5+ years of electrical engineering experience working on mining or heavy industrial projects.
- Knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices, industry and regulatory codes and standards (CSA, NEC, IEEE, ISA, NFPA).
- Proficiency with CSA M421 and OESC.
- Experience in design of Low and Medium Voltage Distribution systems.
- Exceptional communication and written skills.
- Strong team player with ability to coordinate and work with other engineering disciplines.
- Experience with Easy Power and ETAP is an asset.
- Professional engineer licensed in US (PE) or other provinces is an asset.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Navisworks, and Revit Additional Information

- Salary Range is expected to be between: $101,200.00 to $144,600.00
