Manager, Operating System Sustainment

Reporting to the Program Manager, Operating System, this position is responsible for sustainment and implementation of a common Management Operating System (MOS) across Teck. The Manager will work closely with senior operations leadership in maintaining the MOS framework, principles, and process, developing common guidelines while working with each site to advance this operating philosophy. They will collaborate with site leadership teams and leverage the organizational transformation already underway across Teck.

As these initiatives are happening concurrently, it will require the incumbent to close collaboration with our site leaders to help guide and adjust their current approach as required to ensure business value is optimized, while taking into account the unique aspects of each operation. Travel to Teck's operations on a regular basis is needed as each site advances on its MOS journey. A key success factor will be establishing positive relationships across the sites to drive the required changes.

This role is part of the Operations Excellence function, comprised of MOS, Improvement, Central Asset Management, Digital Analytics, and Operations Readiness. The Manager is integral to Operations Excellence in the overall management and decision processes for value maximization and continuous improvement of the business.

Responsibilities

- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures

- Foster Teck's Purpose and Values through all interactions and activities undertaken

- Lead the sustainment of Teck's MOS, inclusive of advancing structured coaching, leadership, development and training program(s) aligned with MOS

- Advance the current MOS coaching approach at Red Dog Operations (RDO) by standardizing and improving the maturity assessment of the operations against the MOS standards and ensure tie back to both the governing MOS routines with RDO leadership and the leadership and development of our people

- Lead the advancement of the MOS training program

- Support and advocate the change management process from implementation to sustainment, driving ownership by the given site, with a focus on sustainment and outcomes of the overall MOS program

- Ensure feedback is provided to MOS standard owners and MOS implementation teams for continuous improvement

- Drive and support the sustainment of Teck's MOS with sites, working directly with them based on maturity level and alignment to the approved MOS plan

- Champion awareness of Teck's MOS within Operations and other Teck departments

- Promote a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and effective quality and change management

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or other relevant field

- 10-15+ years of industrial experience

- Broad understanding of operational excellence within an industrial setting

- Understanding of Operating Systems, and the supporting technologies that can be used to optimize the value through establishing an MOS

- Deep project management skills

- Proficient analytical skills to define value of proposed activities and actions

- Clear understanding and positive application of change management

- Demonstrated ability to lead and empower a diverse team of individuals in a matrix organization, and effectively engage third parties

- Effective communication skills, written and oral

- Outstanding teammate

- Process focused and results oriented

- Solid facilitation skills

- Strong interpersonal skills and personal effectiveness with the ability to influence

- Ability to travel to sites, up to 40% of the time

Salary Range: $144,000 - $178,000

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
