THE OPPORTUNITY: Associate Vice President (AVP), Philanthropy

Calgary Health Foundation is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Associate Vice President (AVP) of Philanthropy to lead and drive transformational philanthropic investments that will make a lasting impact. In this key leadership role, you will a team of fundraising professionals in the development and implementation of major gifts strategies, cultivating key relationships with high-net-worth individuals, corporations, and foundations to advance the Foundation's mission and philanthropic success.

Key accountabilities of the role include:

- Develop and execute a comprehensive major gifts strategy to enhance donor engagement, revenue growth, and alignment with organizational priorities.
- In partnership with the broader team, implement innovative donor cultivation initiatives, including exclusive events, site visits, and donor experiences.
- Lead and manage a high-performing team of major gift fundraisers, providing mentorship, coaching, and professional development.
- Personally identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward transformational gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations, building strong, long-term relationships.
- With the support of our Pipeline and Research team, leverage donor analytics to refine strategies and fundraising plans.
- Cultivate relationships with stakeholders at multiple levels to align donor interests, healthcare impacts, and organizational priorities.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

This key leadership role demands progressive experience in major gift fundraising, donor relations, and strategic campaign management, and proven success in securing substantial gifts from high-net-worth individuals, foundations, and corporations. A deep understanding of fundraising strategies, prospect identification, and donor stewardship is essential, as are exceptional leadership, collaboration and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate should also have experience in creating and executing complex, multi-faceted fundraising initiatives and be adept at navigating diverse stakeholder groups to align philanthropic goals with the organization's mission and vision.

Additional qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (i.e., business, communications, marketing, public relations).
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive fundraising leadership experience, preferably within a large, complex non-profit or healthcare organization.
- A minimum of 5 years of people leadership in the area of fundraising.
- Experience with donor/client relationship databases such as Raiser's Edge.
