Become an Indigenous Cultural Helper in Grande Cache, Alberta, providing support to Indigenous patients and families within the hospital setting. This role emphasizes healing and cultural guidance through listening and relationship-building.
As a part-time Indigenous Hospital Liaison, immerse yourself in culturally safe care, bridging the gap between Indigenous patients and healthcare teams. You will engage patients, honor their strengths, and assist with navigating the healthcare system. Drawing on cultural knowledge and lived experiences, you will facilitate access to end-of-life care and offer just-in-time support.
Key Responsibilities
• Support Indigenous patients’ cultural, emotional, and spiritual needs
• Build trust and relationships with patients and families
• Advocate for patient needs with healthcare teams
• Navigate the healthcare system for Indigenous patients
• Provide cultural guidance to staff as needed
Requirements:
• Must identify as Indigenous
• Excellent listening and relationship-building skills
• Cultural knowledge and a desire to support Indigenous communities
• Experience working in social services or healthcare is a plus
• Willingness to undergo training and mentorship Contribute to culturally meaningful healthcare experiences as an Indigenous Cultural Helper in Grande Cache.
