The Community Accessible Rehabilitation (CAR) program is an ambulatory rehabilitation program for adult clients. This Physiotherapist (PT) will join our dynamic MSK/UE team to support direct patient care in the following areas: complex UE/hand injuries (i.e. tendon reconstructive surgeries), musculoskeletal multi-trauma, rheumatology, peripheral nerve injuries, and lower extremity amputation. The PT will work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team with Occupational Therapists, Social Work, Psychology, Recreation Therapy, and Therapy Assistants. The PT may also provide consultation and treatment in off-site clinics, such as plastic surgery out-patient clinics. We are looking for a PT with clinical experience in the assessment and treatment of clients with complex musculoskeletal, upper extremity injuries, and lower extremity amputations who demonstrates leadership in the area of evidence-based practice initiatives. CAR provides mentorship to support clinicians to develop their skills in new areas of practice. CAR is a multi-site program, and this position is based at the Sheldon M. Chumir Health Centre. The caseload and location for all positions within CAR may be subject to change based on operational considerations. Please note that effective January 15, 2026, this position, along with the Community Accessible Rehabilitation service, will transfer to Assisted Living Alberta (ALA). As the Physiotherapist I (PT), you will provide therapeutic interventions to enable clients to achieve optimum physical function and independence in development, disease, disability, chronic conditions, illness and functional decline. You will provide intervention (i.e. prevention, triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, management, education, consultation, fostering resourcefulness, case management, referral and transition support to individuals, groups, populations and communities. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. The PT collaborates with patient(s) and families in determining, implementing and evaluating appropriate rehabilitation strategies. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich supports and engage in quality improvement; partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families and other stakeholders to advance services for their clients. You will contribute to quality improvement and their professional community; participates in peer mentoring; and supervises students. You may provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants, Therapy Aides and Provisional Physiotherapists. Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program. Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta. Recent experience (within the past 2 years) in MSK/UE physiotherapy in an ambulatory setting. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to function effectively within a patient-centered, interdisciplinary team of health care professionals. Effective self-management skills and demonstrated initiative. Proficient computer skills that support clinical practice. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Current BLS certification. Hand therapy experience, within the past 2 years. Experience in fabrication of finger and hand-based splints. Experience with multi-trauma MSK rehabilitation. Experience with lower extremity amputees, within the past 2 years.
