Store General Manager – Pro Hockey Life

Responsibilities:

1. Sales and profitability focused on all aspects of the business.
2. Execute PHL’s Brand Purpose to the highest capability.
3. Manage and understand P&L Statements & Wage Cost management under the guidance of the District Manager.
4. Expense and cost management control and awareness.
5. Superior store presentation and protection of company assets.
6. Uphold all company and business compliance expectations.
7. Become a community ambassador partnering with local MHA’s.
8. Develop a positive and inviting team culture.
9. Ability to manage capacity and change management initiatives.

Customer Service:

1. Champion and deliver Pro Hockey Life’s Customer Experience Model across the entire Store Team.
2. Meet staff training saturation targets related to product knowledge and fit etiquette.
3. Achieve Net Promoter individual store targets.
4. Ensure staff onboarding is delivered to the company’s expectation.
5. Become an ambassador of Canadian Tire’s Triangle Rewards Program.
6. Provide continuous feedback and coaching to Store Teams using Store Force Reporting, Daily Huddles, and formal performance evaluation programs.

Store Operations:

1. Flawless execution of PHL’s visual compliance standards, store maintenance, and pricing standards.
2. Effectively utilize all store operating initiatives and directives according to required timelines.
3. Establish plan and follow up on execution of weekly price changes and department POP.
4. Responsible for delivering annual corporate shrink targets through team education, enforcement of LP and audit standards, and rigid inventory control.
5. Oversee preparation for annual inventories.
6. Ensure compliance with all corporate LP, Cash, and Store Audit Compliance, and OH&S policies and procedures.
7. Efficiently manage store weekly scheduling and roster management.
8. Leverage Store Force data inputs for both sales and support functions ensuring staff productivity and maximized wage costs.

Training:

1. Coach and develop store and management team through setting expectations, communication, coaching, feedback, and ongoing support.
2. Follow up to ensure execution of weekly plans for the store.
3. Create development plans and conduct annual appraisals for management team; support and coach to improve any performance gaps.
4. Communicate clearly and concisely, leading effective huddles, meetings, and coaching sessions.
5. Hold team accountable to complete required training within time limits.
6. Provide resolution for all customer concerns.
7. Develop and lead recruiting and hiring strategy for store, maintaining a full roster.
8. Establish succession plans through continuous training and development.

Leadership:

1. Continually motivate team through recognition programs, store contests, and customer compliments.
2. Maintain PHL performance management expectations; this includes progressive discipline where necessary.
3. Promote and maintain a positive and motivating work environment.
4. Provide mentorship to teams and influence continuous growth.
5. Encourage support for community engagement efforts.

What you bring:

1. Proven leader and mentor.
2. Proven ability to build and manage daily store execution plan.
3. Understanding of P&L Statements.
4. Financial discipline in understanding OPEX control including wage cost management.
5. Superior training and coaching skills.
6. 5 years of retail management experience.
7. High energy, enthusiastic individual who is driven to succeed.
