Job Summary

The successful candidate will investigate complaints and inspect various premises, enforcing compliance with municipal by-laws, government acts, and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate complaints and inspect eating and food handling establishments, sewage disposal systems, water supplies, and public services premises.
  • Enforce compliance with municipal by-laws, government acts, and regulations.
  • Work independently to organize workload and establish priorities.
  • Establish relationships with internal and external contacts.
  • Obtain cooperation and coordinate the work of various stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health or equivalent recognized by the Board of Certification, Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors.
  • Certificate in Public Health Inspection (Canada).
  • Eligible for registration with the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors, BC Branch.
  • Valid BC Driver's Licence.
  • Three (3) years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Working Conditions

Travel may be required between multiple sites. Shift start time is 08:30, and shift end time is 16:30. Days off are not specified. This is a regular full-time position with a paid FTE of 1.0 and bi-weekly hours of 75.
