The Epidemiologist role is responsible for developing and deploying various surveillance and reporting requirements as required within Covenant Health. Many of the work deliverables are time-sensitive, requiring the incumbent to possess considerable technical and problem-solving proficiencies. Additionally, the role requirements are dynamic in terms of organizational requirements, data sets, tools, processes and overall function.

**Required Qualifications**:
Master’s degree in public health or science with a focus in Epidemiology. Ph.D. in Epidemiology, Health Sciences or applicable discipline preferred.

**Additional Required Qualifications**:
5 - 10 years of analytics experience within the Alberta Health Care system broad based skills and ability to analyze, visualize, summarize and interpret complex data. Preferred Oracle SQL or other comparable database query and report writing experience. Experience in creating and publishing Tableau dashboards. Experience with outbreak reporting and analysis. Experience developing surveillance plans, goals, objectives and reports based on infection prevention and control risk assessment. Experience with extracting data from pharmacy systems and reporting drug utilization data. Excellent oral and written communication skills in order to communicate ideas and methods clearly and succinctly. Experience of creating and giving presentations to a varied group of internal and external stakeholders. The ability to liaise with a range of health professionals and scientific and industry specialists. knowledge of applicable regulatory considerations as it relates to but is not limited to: the utilization and access of health information from a research, operational and legislative perspective (Health Information Act, FOIPP).

**Preferred Qualifications**:
Experience in qualitative research methods preferred. Experience with Infection, Prevention and Control and/or Antimicrobial Stewardship related data sets (Pharmacy, Laboratory or DAD). Project Management experience. Research Experience. Completion of Infection Prevention & Control Canada (IPAC) course preferred. Certification in Infection Control & Epidemiology (CIC designation) preferred.
