Your Opportunity at SECURE:
As our Heavy Equipment Operator / Groundsperson, you will be responsible for operating equipment, such as excavators/material handlers and shears.
This role is based out of Winnipeg Manitoba
The Team:
SECURE is currently recruiting for an operator/labourer to join our Rail Emergency Response team located in Winnipeg. Individuals will require Equipment Operating experience, and will be a member of our Rail Emergency Response Team.
Work Environment:
This is a full time temporary position for 2 - 3 months.
A Day in The Life:
- Operate equipment while adhering to all safe work practices and procedures
- Follow Secures’ operating standards and procedures
- Clean and lubricate equipment and refill equipment tanks
- Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment. Complete walk-arounds, safety checks and ensure equipment is running properly
- Secure special attachments to equipment
- Operate two-way radios and other communication when required
- Minor repairs to equipment. Report any necessary reports to the supervisor
- Chaining/Rigging
- Work on train derailments, railway track maintenance, installing track panels
- Must have an understanding of all power and small tools
- Commitment to working safely and following safety protocol
Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
**Technical**
- Ability to accurately maintain inspections on a daily basis;
- Strong mechanical knowledge with respect to the maintenance, servicing and repair of excavators;
- Ability to complete minor servicing and maintenance of excavators, including but not limited to, greasing, replacement of air filters, and settings;
- Ability to safely operate excavators through difficult weather conditions and challenging work site environments;
- Prior experience operating heavy equipment (excavators, shears);
- Valid Class 5 driver's license is required
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, shoveling, moving containers and other heavy materials;
- Strong work ethic and ability to work long days and occasional overnights; and
- Fit-for-Work each day.
**Interpersonal**
- Ability to communicate effectively and express thoughts and ideas in a clear manner
- Good listening skills along with ability to accept and follow direction
- Open and honest with team members as it relates to all aspects of the work
- Ability to work alone and cover for supervision when required
- Self-starter with the ability to understand operation objectives and can complete tasks with limited supervision
