Junior Archaeologist

**Aquilla Archaeology** is seeking a qualified junior archaeologist starting immediately.

The position involves joining a team that produces high quality archaeological research with integrity. Our goal is to meaningfully contribute to an inclusive society that respects and understands it’s past. This is an outstanding opportunity for someone who is passionate about archaeology and who wants to work in a growing company and live within the Nanaimo/Central Vancouver Island area.
- Good working knowledge of Coastal archaeology and the governing legislation in British Columbia
- Cataloguing and curation of project materials
- Archaeological lab experience
- Experience in lithic identification and analysis
- Record keeping and digitization
- Assist with site form preparation and reporting
- Liaise with First Nations, regulatory bodies, and other clients to facilitate consultation and collaboration
- Physically fit and willing to travel to perform archaeological surveys often in remote locations

**Required Qualifications**:

- Minimum BA/B.Sc. in archaeology or anthropology (or is near graduation)
- Successfully completed archaeology field school
- Material culture courses (lithics, fauna, osteology etc.)
- Field experience in cultural resource management
- Clear verbal and written communicator
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence
- GIS skills an asset

Pay: $26.00-$30.00 per hour
