Department missions
The mission of the Culture, Sports, Leisure and Community Development Department is to offer high-quality services, programs and facilities that promote participation and maximum integration of all Pointe-Claire citizens. The Department relies on a qualified and professional staff dedicated to the quality of life of Pointe-Claire citizens.

**General responsibilities and goals**:
Reporting to the Assistant Manager - Cultural Leisure Activities, the jobholder runs ten French conversation workshops for adults at various levels (beginner to advanced) at the Stewart Hall Cultural Centre in Pointe-Claire. Conversation topics are determined based on the group's interests and ideas.
- Run French as a second language workshops using active teaching methods;
- Create a lesson plan based on the participants' interests;
- Encourage each person’s participation and integration into the group;
- Promote the development of each person's French skills using a dynamic, entertaining and fun teaching style.

The workshops will be held Wednesdays in the evening between 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., from September 27 to November 29, 2023. The jobholder will have 15 minutes of preparation per session, in addition to the 90 minutes of instruction.

**Job requirements**:

- Degree in teaching French as a second language, or any other relevant training
- Experience in teaching in an academic or a non-academic setting
- Fluency in oral and written French
- Listening and good interpersonal skills
- Good organization skills and resourcefulness
- Excellent ability to make knowledge accessible
- Knowledge of English

**Schedule**:
13.5 hours across nine workshops on Wednesdays between 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. (90 minutes per workshop / 15 minutes of preparation), from September 28 to November 29, 2023.
